Tomorrow is Election Day here in the United States, and we’ve got some related content in the works here at Verso. Be sure to check back later today and again tomorrow for a two-part piece contributed by manuscripts curator Olga Tsapina.
Thursday afternoon at 2:30 is the Second Thursday Garden Talk & Sale, and the topic this month is California Native Gardening. Helen Popper, author of California Native Gardening: A Month-by-Month Guide, will discuss the Golden State’s unique seasonal rhythms and will offer calendar-based tips for both beginning and experienced native gardeners. This Friends’ Hall event is free, and no reservations are required.
In an exciting move that may come as a surprise to many Huntington aficionados, we have a contemporary art exhibition opening Saturday upstairs in the Huntington Art Gallery. “Lesley Vance & Ricky Swallow” will showcase works—some made especially for this exhibition—by these two Los Angeles–based artists. Read more here.
On Sunday afternoon from 2–4 p.m., we present a conversation with Lesley Vance and Ricky Swallow with Christopher Bedford. Bedford, co-curator of the exhibition “Lesley Vance & Ricky Swallow” and director of the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University in Boston, will lead a conversation with the artists inside the gallery, exploring issues of inspiration, display, and relevance. The event is free, but space is limited and reservations are required. Please call 626-405-3428 or email email@example.com to inquire about reservations. The event takes place inside the Huntington Art Gallery.
For information on events that require registration and/or additional fees, please check out the calendar on The Huntington’s website.
