THIS WEEK AT THE H | Aug. 27–Sept. 3

This Week at The H is a weekly feature here at Verso. Stop in each Monday to find out what’s happening throughout the week at The Huntington!

LAST CHANCE: This is the last week of the year for summer hours (10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, closed Tuesdays). Starting next Wednesday, our regular public hours go back to noon to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Weekend hours will remain 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we’ll still be closed on Tuesdays (as well as some holidays—just check the website). So, if you’re in the mood for some weekday pre-noon Huntington, this is your last chance…until Memorial Day 2013.

It’s back-to-school time for many of the kiddos out there, and on Saturday and Sunday we will have some great hands-on educational activities to help fuel some of that learning momentum. Our Discovery Carts, designed for kids ages four and up, are staffed by high school volunteers and can be found at various spots on the grounds each Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Activities slated for this weekend range from origami at the Lily Ponds to bird watching at the base of the lower Desert Garden to Beijing opera mask decoration near the upper entrance of the Chinese Garden.

We will be open for the Labor Day holiday next Monday, thanks in no small part to the wonderful guards, café employees, and other staff members who will be keeping the place up and running on this national holiday.

For information on events that require registration and/or additional fees, please check out the calendar on The Huntington’s website.

Kate Lain is the new media developer in the office of communications at The Huntington.
