THIS WEEK AT THE H | July 16–23

This Week at The H is a weekly feature here on the blog. Stop in each Monday to find out what’s happening throughout the week at The Huntington!

LAST CHANCE: This weekend is the final one for two of our exhibitions. “Visions of Empire” and “French Travelers to the East” both close next Monday, so be sure to stop by both the Boone Gallery and the Huntington Art Gallery’s Works on Paper Room while you have the chance!

If you notice a lot of happy campers exploring the gardens and galleries this week, that’s because our Explorers Summer Day Camp is off and running! Welcome, campers!

Tuesday marks the 57th anniversary of Disneyland’s grand opening. Nearly four years later, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty hit theatres. And just last year, our very own exhibits conservator Marieka Kaye performed the meticulous task of restoring the beautiful book from that film’s opening live-action sequence. You can read about it here.

LOOKING AHEAD: We have two Civil War shows coming up this fall, and you can read up on what’s in store over in the Press Room on the main website. And, incidentally, Saturday marks the 151st year since the First Battle of Bull Run, which was the Civil War’s first major land battle.

For information on events that require registration and/or additional fees, please check out the calendar on The Huntington’s website.

Kate Lain is the new media developer in the office of communications at The Huntington.
